A guy racing high school girls?

World of Sports

Does this make sense:

Texas passes new trans law

We have some craziness going on in Texas, too much to count, but compared to California, I think we’re the epitome of common sense if you don’t include DPS Director Steve McCraw, who is still unwilling to bear any personal responsibility for the sad Uvalde mass-shooting, and Texas AG Ken Paxton, who has his fingers in too many things to count.

For example, did you see the story pop up two weeks ago about a high school girl (San Fran area) who got booted out of competing for a state title because she lost to a transgender athlete?

Adeline Johnson finished fourth in the 1600-meter race at a sectional meet where she lost to a transgender female (formerly a guy) who came in second. Since Miss Johnson came in fourth, she is now knocked out of the state’s track-and-field competition.

Athena Ryan, the girl who was formerly a guy, was happy over her performance: “I wasn’t expecting that. I dropped like 17 seconds on my season’s best in the past two weeks.”

The rules that allow a trans who was formerly a guy to participate in girls’ sports was first adopted in 2013, so named, “Gender Identity Participation.”

As dictated, the rules read: “All students should have the opportunity to participate in (California Interscholastic) athletics and/or activities in a manner that is consistent with their gender identity.”

Like most things, instead of invoking common sense, the trans-athlete debate has become political. In the U.S. House, the Republicans passed a ban last month on transgender women and girls from competing in female school athletics. Not one single Democrat joined them. The bill will now be taken up in the Senate, where it will surely die from lack of votes, since the Dems control that chamber.

The Republicans say it’s about protecting women’s rights, while the Dems say it opens up a means by which trans kids will face further bullying in schools.

Not if the guys who trans to a girl don’t compete in women’s sports.

Sorry, common sense. To her credit, Caitlyn “Bruce” Jenner tweeted: As ‘somewhat’ of a track star myself, and a trans person, THIS IS WRONG!!! HELP ME PUSH BACK!.

“And FYI, trans ppl you are being used by the radical gender ideology cult as political pawns. That’s all you are to them,” added Jenner, 73, who won the gold medal in the men’s decathlon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. (Source: NY Post.)

Then a politician from the Democrat ranks, a victim of a lobotomy gone wrong, spoke up. A U.S. rep from Wisconsin named Mark Pocan: “These kids are kids and should be able to play with their friends. This isn’t about protecting women and girls, it’s about attacking trans kids.”

No it’s not. It’s about what is fair and what is not fair when it comes to competitive sports. If the guy wants to transition to a female, fine, but she should then only be allowed to compete against guys. The surgery and hormone therapy aren’t going to change his muscle mass, much, and it’s not going to change his musculoskeletal frame in the least.

What Dems like Pocan need to consider is how unfair this is to female athletes like Adeline Johnson, who has probably been running competitive track since middle school. All the hours that went into her training to make it to state, only to lose to a guy who now calls himself a girl.

I guarantee you this. I would bet money on it. If Pocan’s daughter was the one who got the short end of the stick, he’d be one of the first to be screaming about it. Since it’s someone else’s kid, though, he can make idiotic statements, hoping it will help him get reelected next cycle.

I lived in Wisconsin in my early years. It’s not that much of a liberal state. We’re talking guys who like to hunt and drink beer, although probably not much Bud Light at this point in time. Madison, the state capital, is liberal, but the rest of the state, not so much.

Sane Texas

In the Lone Star State, going into this legislative session, trans athletes had to compete in the sport to which they were identified by birth. Penis, no penis. Pretty simple. Boy or a girl.

If a teen wanted to change gender identity, fine, but a guy couldn’t skip over to competing against the girls if his birth name was Bob.

This legislative session, the state changed the law to include college sports.

Now, politics aside, common sense dictates this makes sense, and the poor California girl got the short end of the stick.

That’s why trans athlete Lia Thomas, former name William Thomas, could win the NCAA Division 1 National Championship (500-yard freestyle event) competing against women, while as a guy, competing against men, she was only ranked the 462 male swimmer in the country.

How is that fair to the female swimmers against whom she competed?

It’s not; but that takes some common sense to digest.

America, a lot of it, has become so whatever you want to call it, that Lia Thomas’s birth name, William, isn’t even included on her Wikipedia page. How crazy is that?

Like Kojak used to say: “It’s a new world, baby.”
