Comptroller Hegar distributes $1.1B in monthly sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for September, 3.4 percent more than in September 2022.

These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly. In case you're interested in how other Texas cities compared for the same reporting period, September 2022 vs. September 2023, Austin was down 4.04 percent, Brownsville up 11.25 percent, Dallas up 1.90 percent, El Paso up 2.63 percent, Houston up 2.62 percent, Laredo up 10.43 percent, and San Antonio up 3.08 percent.
