Staff ReportAdvance News JournalAn Emu that was running loose died due to unclear circumstances Sunday.Officers responded to a report around 8:21 a.m. of a large emu running around East Trenton Road and South Veterans Boulevard. According to a release, animal control officers contained the bird in a nearby field but were unable to catch it.“Subsequently, a cowboy was summoned to the scene and, after some time, successfully captured the emu,” the release said.It is unclear what caused the animal to die after being captured.If residents are in need of Animal Control services, the number is (956) 289-7700.
