Edinburg to install six new turf fields

EDINBURG — To continue providing state-of-the-art facilities for sports enthusiasts across the community, the City of Edinburg will add six artificial turf baseball fields at Edinburg Municipal Park.

City staff hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 2 of the Municipal Park Turf Field Project at 714 S. Raul Longoria Road on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10 a.m.

The first phase focused on Field 2, which now features all-weather turf, adjustable bases, and a drainage system.

Phase 2 will oversee the renovations of the three fields adjacent to Phase 1 and the three youth fields located on the park's north side.

Construction began on June 3, 2024. The $2 million project, funded by the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, is estimated to be completed in February 2025.
