Gov. Abbott appoints Deanda as vice chair of Texas EDC Board of Directors
Gov. Greg Abbott recently appointed an established local individual to the Texas Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.
S. David Deanda, Jr., who is president of Lone Star National Bank and serves on its Board of Directors, was named vice chair in an Aug. 23 release by the governor's office. Deanda is from Mission.
For chair, Abbott selected Arun Agarwal of Dallas. Agarwal is the CEO of Nextt and has business interests in textiles, real estate and more.
'The Corporation is the private side of a public-private partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism tasked with marketing Texas, domestically and globally, as the best state for business,' the release said.
Deanda also has quite the experience to accompany him.
According to the release, Deanda serves on the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Board of Managers, the Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities and Scholarships Board of Directors, Hidalgo County Metropolitan Planning Organization, Texas A&M University Kingsville Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as the board of the Bauer College of Business for the University of Houston.
In addition, he's also a member of the Minority Depository Institutions Advisory Council, Dallas Fed Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council and is the former chairman of the Hidalgo County Regional Mobility Authority, according to the release.
In terms of education, Deanda earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, the release said.
