Humanity of Trump

Last week on the internet, Donald Trump took a giant step toward revealing his humanity. As you probably realize, the Donald was recently on the 'Gutfeld!' show which produced not only the highest ratings ever for that show but also the highest ratings for any show on any network that week. What you may not realize, however, is that appearance resulted in Trump's appearance on something called “Maintaining with Tyrus” which features one of the regular characters on the 'Gutfeld!' show. That latter appearance was extremely revealing. George Murdoch — more famously known as Tyrus — is, of course, an extremely large and brilliant former Black wrestler.

The show began with Tyrus apologizing to Trump for formerly being critical of the Donald for his somewhat combative nature. Tyrus goes on to explain that he discovered Trump is like that because of his love for family. He explained that following Trump's appearance on the 'Gutfeld!' show. He spent some 20 minutes backstage speaking with Tyrus' young daughter. He deeply cares about people and loves children. Trump responded that his daughter was a wonderful athlete and that he was impressed by her love of horses.

Tyrus then spoke of Trump's humanitarian efforts (which are almost never made public). He mentioned the hundreds of people whose medical bills or mortgages Donald had quietly paid. He also brought up the time that Nelson Mandela had been trying unsuccessfully to get the United States government to help him arrange for his family members to come to the U.S. When Trump heard about it, he hired a 727 and flew those eighty family members to America. Trump refused to elaborate on any of these revelations (other than to say he loves helping people and considers these matters personal and not to be treated as news).

Tyrus went on to note that Trump had contributed a hundred thousand dollars to the humanitarian raising of dogs — and as to why had he done that when he wasn't particularly known as an activist in that field. Trump explained that his daughter-inlaw Lara helped dogs and that such animals were often kept in cages which were far too small. He was trying to help her out in her quest to improve the lives of those animals.

Tyrus then brought up Trump's long-time friendship with noted Black figures Don King and Muhammad Ali. Trump responded that Don King was still alive and some 92 years old. He lived in Florida and endorsed Trump's candidacy. Trump went on to say he had last spoken with King about a week ago. He also mentioned that he attended the very best of the Ali fights and had known him for many years before his death.

During the course of the interview, Trump invited Tyrus' family to visit him for dinner at Mar-a-Lago since they only lived about 20 minutes away. He also mentioned that he was a member of the WWE Hall of Fame (which Tyrus indicated he had already known).

Tyrus went on to say that he not only respected Trump for his political positions, but also admired him for having the character he had. He went on to endorse Trump for president. Tyrus also suggested that those who engage in military service be exempted from income taxes. Trump found the idea interesting and realized the policy would boost military signings. Some other countries had that policy, and it was an idea worth considering.

An hour later at the Al Smith dinner — which raises money for Catholic charities — Trump gave a humorous speech. Kamala Harris did not appear personally at the dinner (probably since teleprompters were not allowed). At the event, Trump once again revealed a good bit about himself. He, for example, indicated that a number of years ago he gave Chuck Schumer the very first check he received. Trump talked about his father being unable to pass up poor people holding out cans for donations without dropping a hundred dollar bill in one of the cans.

He also mentioned that while he was president he once received a phone call from the Cardinal indicating that the Catholic Church schools were in trouble and that they were going to have to shut down the entire New York Catholic school system for lack of funds. Trump made some phone calls and raised several billion dollars to keep the schools open. He noted that he was also at today's Al Smith dinner while Harris was not, and he asked Catholics to vote for him.

Trump comes across as much more likable than the caricature Democrats have painted of him.
