Too old for Puppy Love? Think again!
If you think that you’re long past the age for puppy love, you couldn’t be more wrong. There is no expiration date on that magical feeling of falling in love for the first time and the good news is that it can happen no matter how old you are — IF you meet the right puppy!
This week, Cinderella is featuring two prime candidates– Baryshnikov (call him Bary for short) an Italian Greyhound /Chihuahua mix and Darling, a tiny 8 pound Chihuahua, who couldn’t be more aptly named.
Bary and his sister, Pavlova, also named for a legendary ballerina, are only about 4 months old and are awaiting neuter and spay surgery in the near future. However, they are available now for “pre-adoption” and will be able to be a part of your happily-ever-after once their surgeries are done.
One look at Bary and you can see why he and his sister were named for ballet superstars. They are slender, graceful, and downright beautiful! Don’t expect to see Bary and his sister dressed in tutus anytime soon, though. They are lovely to behold, just as they are, Bary resplendent in a perfectly symmetrically marked coat of fawn and white. You’ll have to check them out on our website (www.cinderella- pet-rescue.org) to see Pavlova, since she’s technically not being featured in this article.
Both brother and sister are very sweet and loving young dogs. They will be much smaller than standard greyhounds when grown, in fact we’re hoping that whoever falls in love with “Bary” at first sight, might want to consider adopting his sister too. There’s no reason at all that puppy love can’t apply to more than one puppy, if you have enough room in your home and heart for two of them!
Our other featured dog this week, Darling, is not technically a puppy at all, being around two years old. However, she is as small as a puppy and definitely as cute as one. She’s a pretty tan color and has great big brown eyes that will capture your heart. She loves to go on adventures in a car. She also enjoys playing and hanging out with other dogs, especially her friend Jack-Jack (check the website to see him).
Darling can be a little bashful at first. She and Jack-Jack were abandoned and left to fend for themselves — we’re not sure for how long–so she’s not as confident with new people as she might be. However, once you show her that you mean her no harm, she warms up and enjoys being close and cuddling. We are sure that Darling will make a wonderful companion, if she only gets the chance.
Contact us today at (956) 391-4399 for more information or fill out our online adoption application if you’re interested in Bary and/or his sister, Pavlova, or in Darling and/or her buddy, Jack-Jack. The latter two are currently in foster care but will be available for adoption in the near future.
Be sure to check out the many other dogs available for immediate adoption–we have all kinds! We also have a few very friendly cats waiting for their forever homes and will have several new ones available soon.

There simply aren’t enough homes available for all the dogs and cats born in The Valley each year. So, another way you can help Cinderella and all the other local shelters and rescues is by spaying and neutering your pets.
