Discover the untold story of the Weslaco High Lady Panthers Softball Team and their historic 6A state championship run in a documentary premiering at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at the Susan M. Peterson Center for the Performing and Visual Arts. This film, “321 Miles to a Miracle” is a look at the incredible season told from the perspective of the players and Head Softball Coach Mario Rodriguez.

From the team-bonding sessions during grueling summer workouts, to the monumental hit that won the game, relive the moments and get a behind the scenes look at the historic run to a state title. Weslaco ISD and the KWES production team spent months working on the project and piecing together the key moments of this historic season.

'It's an inspiring story that will make you believe that anything in life is possible,' Executive Director of District Communications Carlos Robledo said.

The documentary also offers a glimpse into the inception of WHS softball program itself and follows the girls through their formative years in Little League and city league play.

The 2024 state champion team members were also a part of a museum exhibit, state championship ring ceremony, city parade, fan signings and a degree proclaiming June 1st as Lady Panther Softball Team Day.
