Mission CISD approves 2025-2026 Compensation Plan

The Mission Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees has recently approved a compensation plan for the upcoming school year.

The board approved the plan at its scheduled meeting last week on June 18.

The approved compensation plan includes adjustments to all other salary schedules. In addition, staff members, such as instructional assistants, clerical staff, technical personnel, auxiliary employees, and administrative employees will receive a 2.5% pay increase of midpoint.

The median starting salary for a new teacher in Texas is $34,390, and the median teacher average salary is $57,761, according to a report by Teachers of Tomorrow, which has statistics pulled from Salary.com. For the 2023-2024 school year, multiple sources reported that the average salary for a teacher in the state was around the $62,400 ballpark range.

In the plan, Mission CISD has set its starting salary for teachers with zero years of experience at $59,300 — a maximum teacher salary lands at about $71,220.

“When our educators and staff know they are truly valued, it reflects everything they do for our students,” Superintendent Cris Valdez said in a release. “Our focus is to create an environment where everyone feels supported, grows professionally, and is proud to be part of the Mission CISD family.”
