Don’t let liquid confidence fool you: Anti-drunk driving campaign commences
Don’t do it — don’t drink and drive.
That’s the message that TxDOT and local law enforcement want to make clear with its “Drive Sober. No Regrets.” campaign. The campaign — which is promptly timed for the start of summer and the Fourth of July holiday weekend — aims to deter drivers from driving while impaired.
From Thursday to July 13, the effort by law enforcement will be amped up and officers will be on the lookout for drunk drivers to reduce DUI crashes, injuries and fatalities.

Don’t let liquid confidence fool you. Every week, drivers make the choice of driving impaired. In each edition of The Advance News Journal, at least 50 people make the DWI bookings.
Last year, there were over 1,000 deaths in the state from DUI/alcohol-related crashes, TxDOT said in a release.
“Making the choice to drive drunk instead of finding a sober ride home can and does lead to serious consequences,” TxDOT Executive Director Marc Williams said in a release. “No one wants to live the rest of their life knowing they caused the death of another person on the road, and no one is impervious to the dangers of driving impaired.”
