Crazy Female Sports: Let’s beat up Caitlin Clark?

The WNBA’s Golden Calf, so to speak, has arrived, but instead of heralding her arrival to the pro league, because her phenomenal talent will just draw more people to the gate, her competitors want to beat the hell out of her.

Why? Through either stupidity, racism, or jealousy, or a combo.

In the WNBA, the number one draft pick gets paid how much money, would you guess? For a four-year contract. Approximately $75,000. Easy to fact check. In the NBA, the top male draft pick gets about how much for the same fouryear contract? About $14 million per year, plus change, or about $60 million total. The NBA, by the way, is the major backer of the WNBA, reportedly underwriting approximately 70 percent of its budget.

Keep in mind that the Women’s National Basketball Association has never turned a profit since its inception in 1996. Not one profitable year.

According to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, dating back to one of his quotes from 2018, the WNBA consistently loses approximately $10 million each year. For 2024, the WNBA was expected to lose as much as $40 million.

It is, in fact, the NBA that mainly keeps the women’s league alive.

Then last year, the league was gifted with the arrival of Caitlin Clark, who is so good at playing basketball that it’s impossible to look at her highlights on YouTube and not come away amazed. Her pure three-pointers, swish, her incomparable passes, are unlike any other talent in the league, in my opinion.

Now, if her competitors were smart, they would welcome Clark to the league instead of trying to claw out her eyes (literally), shoulder slam her to the court, cheap shot her with smack to the side of the head, the back of the head.

Because of Clark and the fact that fans now have a real reason to go to a WNBA game, the gate receipts will climb, and maybe, just maybe, sometime down the road, the league’s number one draft pick can expect to earn more than $75k per year.

Unfortunately for Clark, her talent brings with it envy from other women. Some of whom simply cannot stand it that a white girl is the best player.

The White Gyal

One of Clark’s rivals, who’s really not close in the stats, Angel Reese, reposted a TikTok video containing a screenshot of an X post mocking Clark as a “white gyal running away from the fade.”

It was a reference to a recent scuffle the two had had during a game.

If the roles were reversed, it’s easy to see how that color reference would have played out. Not well for Clark.

To make sure that WNBA fans come to love the league, Reese later made the claim that some fans at Caitlin Clark’s home turf, Indianapolis, called her the N-word. She later shared a TikTok (platform still controlled by the Chi-Coms) vid that claims Angel Reese is no longer safe:

“The situation at hand is that when Angel Reese walks into the Indiana Fever arena, she is no longer safe. She is not safe, because there are some Indiana Fever fans who are racist, who will treat her like she is not a human being, who will hurl slurs and threats her way, and that is not OK. That’s not a thing that happens in sports — it is not OK,” the user said.

Of course, the WNBA did a thorough investigation but found no evidence to support Reese’s claim. Big surprise. Like some white fool at a WNBA game is going to loudly hurl out racist slurs at a black player, with black fans nearby. Sure thing.

If all the players in the WNBA would treat Clark with the respect she deserves, when her four-year contract expires in 2027, she just may choose to stay in the U.S. and not go play in Europe.

Not only will she be more welcomed there, at least by real competitive international teammates, but she also might make more money.

Crazy times. The WNBA plans to expand to 18 teams by 2030, with each new expansion franchise required to pay $250 million for the promise of low attendance.

If only there were more players like Caitlin Clark, but there aren’t. She’s a generational talent.

She’s also the player who will draw the fans, but let’s sideswipe her face again and try and gouge out her eye in a fit of jealousy.

Dang white gyal.
