PSJA North girls basketball gets district win against Pioneer

PHARR — Once PSJA North got its game going, the team never looked back at their house on Tuesday against the Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks. The Raiders took the district win, 66-25.

The win in District 31-5A now places the Raiders in third place — behind the Nikki Rowe Warriors and the Edinburg Vela Sabercats. Overall, the team stands at 17-6, with the 2-1 record in district play.

Defensive pressure by the Raiders really rattled the D'Backs as Pioneer was held to single-digit points in three out of the four quarters.

Pioneer (10-11, 1-2) is set to play McAllen Memorial (18-5, 1-1) tomorrow at home at 6 p.m. The Mustangs are looking to bounce back after a tough road loss against the Nikki Rowe Warriors.

As for the Raiders, they look to improve against the Robert Vela SaberCats (18-4, 2-0) tomorrow in Edinburg at 6 p.m. The SaberCats sit in 2nd place in 31-5A.
