Texas Democrats Need a Real Fighter
This primary season, which slides for home March 3, one candidate, James Talerico, 36, is going around with a Bible in one hand and a peace-and-love sign in the other, hoping that will bring him victory.
The fact that he also graduated from a seminary (Presbyterian) gives him the street creds he needs to bring everybody to Jesus, or so he’s hoping.
Then you find out he’s taking campaign money from a gambling PAC (political action committee), and you think, did I miss something about Jesus shooting craps?
The other candidate, Jasmine Crockett, 44, who currently serves in the U.S. House, knows the only way to win a political “knife fight” is to bring, well, a “knife.”
But she’s black, so the question in Texas, among both Anglos and Hispanics, is, will her color be a hindrance if she were to win the Democrat Primary and have to face off against either John Cornyn or Ken Paxton, each trying to out-Trump the other.
You want my take on it?
“No.”
Going to tell you anyway — the GOP has made such an utter mess out of things this past year, I think Donald Duck could beat either Cornyn or Paxton (the two Republicans running in the GOP primary).
The Republicans, the same ones who stand by while Trump unilaterally decides whether or not he’s going to take us to war with Iran, while still doing his best to keep the Epstein files hidden from the public, while showing clear signs of cognitive dysfunction to any layman who has been around demented parents or in-laws, have no clue to what degree they have alienated their core base.
If you include the independent voters, forget it. They may never vote Republican again. Forget the fact that the Dow passed 50,000, they can still see what’s happening in the real world, the real economy, how badly Trump’s tariffs have increased the prices of almost everything, and it’s not pretty, no matter which direction you look.
This November, GOP leaders (an oxymoron) will find out how badly they have managed to muck up things as the votes are counted.
When it came out this week that one of the possible victims in the Epstein sex-trafficking sex ring might be as young as 9 years old, and the GOP still impedes this investigation, wants nothing to do with it since Trump has told them to stay away from it, that matters to voters who have kids, grandkids.
Why does Trump want Republicans to impede the Epstein investigation?
Because his name is all over it (more than 38,000 times). Keeping in mind, that the files released so far don’t even include a quarter of what is out there. (Source: any legit news source, which doesn’t include Fox.)
Bible vs. the Baccarat Table
The irony in this race is rather exquisite. James Talarico spends half his time on the stump quoting scripture and talking about “moral leadership.”
While Talarico is preaching to the choir, he’s also passing the campaign-contribution plate to Miriam Adelson — the Las Vegas casino mogul and widow of Sheldon Adelson, one of Trump’s biggest campaign donors.
For those keeping score at home, the Adelsons are some of the biggest financial backers of the Trump administration. Yet, Talarico has no problem taking tens of thousands (approximately $60K) from their Texas Sands PAC to push for legalized gambling in the Lone Star State, which he supports.
No matter the countless studies that show how legalized gambling targets the people who can least afford to lose the money.
It’s a strange look for a guy hoping to become a U.S. senator?
Talarico is bringing a Bible to a political gunfight while bowing to a family that helped build the very “Trumpism” he claims to oppose.
If you’re going to vote in the Democrat Primary, I hope you vote for Crockett.
I don’t trust Talarico as far as I can throw him.
Then again, I know people who can’t stand Jasmine Crockett.
Compared to Trump and a Whitebread Dem like Talarico?
Please.
