Ignore the war propagandists

A friend called this morning and said, “Just put diesel in my truck. It went from $4.85 a gallon to $5.29, and that was just over the weekend.”

Not intending to ruin his day, I said, “Just wait. It’s going to get a whole lot worse.”

Late last week, a business owner sent me a notice from one of his suppliers, announcing a six-percent hike in one of the main materials he uses to stay in business.

The main reason – the tariffs placed on steel and steel products.

The War Story

Geopolitics is a very interesting thing. So is the law of supply and demand. It doesn’t take a military expert, especially one paid by Fox to appear on the network and spout war propaganda, to know that Trump has gotten us into a war with no off ramp.

The only thing he can do, the ONLY THING (since the president loves those upper-case letters) he can do is tell Iran that we are ending the war and offer them reparations. And we remove all our military bases (many now bombed) out of the Middle East.

Of course, reparations can never pay or replace those poor dead school children we killed, but there is no other way out for America.

These people who say that boots on the ground in Iran will do anything but get a lot of our troops killed are either fools, liars, or they have no clue about military strategy.

Instead of Fox News, go online, go to YouTube and watch any one of these guys: Professor John Mearsheimer, Ret. Col. Douglas Macgregor, Ret. Col. Lawrence Wilkerson (Colin Powell’s former chief of staff), former CIA Analyst Larry Johnson, Professor Jeffrey Sachs, and former Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter.

None of them are paid propagandists. That’s why no one wants them on TV because all they will say is the truth. They all have decades of either being involved in wars, planning war strategies, acting as consultants to the military, watching failed strategies fail.

None of them are partisan. In fact, I’d bet that most of them have voted Republican most of their respective lives.

But it’s from guys that like these that people can learn what this war is all about and why America is screwed if the war lasts much longer.

It’s from the guys I just mentioned that we learn what a sham this war is, and who is making money off it. Big money. Big surprise. That’s why America gets into so many wars as opposed to, say, China.

All the men I just mentioned know more about war and geopolitics in the span of their left pinky than the entire body of Republicans in both the Senate and the House know as a collective body. Don’t even have to include the executive branch when one wants to look at needless wars.

According to the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), a bipartisan nonprofit policy research organization, American taxpayers spent approximately $12 billion during the first week of this new forever war.

It’s reportedly up to about $25 billion now, but it’s only paper money, what the hey. And besides, Trump and his chiseled Secretary of Defense are now asking Congress for another $200 billion for war efforts. The fact that we are in debt to the tune of approximately $39 trillion, well, as long as some people are making money, what’s the problem?

I could go on, but what’s the point.

The Higher Costs

I’m left wondering if the approximate 40 percent of the American public that supports this war will still support it when gas hits $6 a gallon?

Probably. Hard-core MAGA will support it even if gas hits $10 a gallon.

This war is also not going to end any time soon.

This war was unnecessary, needless, illegal, and will do untold damage to this country, its people, the world, before it ever ends.

Exactly when that will be, no one knows.

Whoever Trump thinks he’s talking to in Iran, if indeed he’s talking to anyone, they are not speaking for the people who currently run the country.

The people running the country are busy executing a war that they consistently said they wanted no part of.

We had an informal treaty with Iran from 2015 through 2018, which included weapons inspectors, and basically all the things we were asking for this time around.

In 2018, however, Trump ripped up the "treaty," and out went the IAEA weapons inspectors.

Why?

Because the people pushing for war always get what they want if the right man comes along.

The ability to rip an entire region to shreds, watch as people die, including children, using the same exact BS fed to us in 2002, 2003 – Iran has weapons of mass destruction (nuclear weapons), and we are in danger of imminent threat.

Even Shia militias in Iraq have now joined Iran in this war to fight off the U.S.

You can’t make this stuff up. Iran can once again sell its oil now that sanctions have been lifted by Trump because he wants as much oil on the world stage as possible to keep gas prices down. So, too, with Russia. Sanctions gone, and Putin is now making money hand over fist as Russia simultaneously feeds intelligence to Iran that gets our people killed, our aircraft blown up.

The Strait of Hormuz isn’t closed. It’s only closed to nations tied to either the U.S. or Israel. Other tankers are getting through flying flags from countries sanctioned by Iran. Only caveat now is that each vessel is paying Iran $2 million per trip.

Like I said, you can’t make up this stuff.

It would make for a dark comedy if it didn’t happen to be true, sad to say.
