San Antonio Spurs look to knot up series tonight
There’s probably a sense of worry if you’re a San Antonio Spurs fan. Reason being is because the local squad is down in a best-of-seven game series for the NBA championship against the New York Knicks.
The Knicks were able to do the near-impossible task of traveling to South Texas and picking up not only one win against the Western Conference Champions, but two.
The second game had all the elements for playoff basketball as it went down to the wire. Despite the Spurs hanging with the Knicks on their homecourt, the away squad took the dub, 105-104.
One of the most stress-inducing plays came at the latter end of the fourth quarter as 7’4’’ superstar Victor Wembanyama turned it over on what could’ve been a fast break. Wemby was eyeing Stephon Castle to continue the break, but Knicks’ guard Jalen Brunson eyed the play and stole it to ultimately take the win.
The Knicks have been showing a lot of grit and grind in their playstyle as they have proven to be one of the more scrappy teams in the league.
Deficits also don’t scare them, it seems.
In Game 2, the Spurs looked very polished early on as they established a 12-point lead in the first half. In Game 1, the San Antonio squad was able to build a 14-point lead at one point but the Knicks were able to shave it off to gain the advantage.
Game 3 on Monday was won by the Spurs, 115-111.
They play again tonight at 7:30.
