$12 for fries, mozzarella sticks?

After leaving a Sonic Drive-In last week with my order of large fries and mozzarella sticks for a grand total of $11.78, I thought to myself, damn, Gregg, you’re good looking.

Not really. I was thinking, however, that the Republicans are doomed in the upcoming midterms.

If I just drove away from a fast-food joint and paid almost $12 for fries and mozzarella sticks, no burger, no chicken sandwich, then what are the people with kids doing these days?

Down in the RGV, the GOP should be even more disliked, considering the cuts they made this year to Medicaid and other programs that impact the working poor.

Trump talks about record stock market gains as if the average person walking a Valley street gives a tinker’s damn what the stock market is doing.

Seriously? They still have this week’s rent to worry about.

They’re still trying to shop at the grocery store and make it out alive. Compared to grocery prices before the pandemic, what cost approximately $100 back then now costs approximately $137.

The president’s tariffs, which are paid by the South Texas consumer, not the exporting country, only adds to our misery.

Which is still a mystery to me — why can’t everyone figure that out? Who pays Trump’s tariffs? This isn’t rocket science. You and me, we pay the tariffs.

Along with the American company standing on the Long Beach loading dock when the cargo ship arrives from China with all that sub-par merch aboard. The company rep pays the tariffs, and then a certain percentage (the majority) is passed on to the consumer.

This is an example of taxation without representation, but with some people, they just never get it.

This is the same demographic who thinks the Iran War is a good idea as our national debt tops $40 trillion, and AI data centers suck up our water and energy.

Too funny that so many people still swallow the line — this is America’s Golden Age.

Compared to what? KKK lynchings? Segregated schools in the RGV?
