ELVA T. RAMIREZ

PHARR — Elva T. Ramirez, 94, entered eternal rest Monday, February 7, 2022, at her residence in Pharr, surrounded by her family.

Born and lived in Pharr, she was a parishioner at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, where she was an active member of La Legion de Maria. Elva volunteered with the Pharr Chamber of Commerce and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. She was a graduate of Leadership Pharr, served as Den Mother for Boy Scouts Troop 262, and was Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society in Pharr.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Isabel Trevino; three sisters, Alicia Garza, Berta Gonzalez, Celia Trent; two brothers, Benito and Martin Trevino; a grandson, Oscar Ramirez; and the father of her children, Jose Ramirez.

Elva is survived by six children, Eduardo “Eddie” (Blanca) Ramirez, Sandra (Ernesto) Salinas, Mario Ramirez, Oscar (Aida) Ramirez, Joel (Linda) Ramirez, Sergio (Evelyn) Ramirez; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Hortencia Vela, Frances Garcia, Angel Trevino, and Linda Blasquez.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Monday, February 14, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
