ERNESTINA C. SALINAS EDINBURG

Ernestina C. Salinas, 83, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.

Mrs. Salinas was born October 10, 1938 in Encino

Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Pan American College and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Texas Pan American. She taught school for 35 years in Edcouch Elsa ISD, Aldine ISD, and retired from McAllen ISD in 1995. Mrs. Salinas was very passionate about her work and was a very loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed every moment spent with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Diego and Celia Cantu; a son, Leroy Salinas; four siblings, Diego Cantu, Catalina Cantu, Cristina Longoria, and Joaquina Vela.

Mrs. Salinas is survived by her two grandchildren, Ashley (Isac) Caro, Jonathan (Abby) Salinas; brother, David Miguel (Viola) Cantu; sister, Corina Garza; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Caro, Kassidy Caro, Mason Caro, Jon-Nathan Salinas, Avery Salinas, Leia Salinas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Antonio Villarreal Cemetery in Encino.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
