FELIPE GARCIA, JR.

Felipe was born in San Juan, TX, grew up in Linn-San Manuel, TX and spent his life in Edinburg, TX. He was a graduate of Edinburg High School, of University of Texas Pan American and of Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

He was an extremely passionate attorney for nearly 36 years, devoted to helping people from all walks of life.

Sonny, as he was known to his family and childhood friends, had a rare and keen wit, full of humor and sarcasm. From a young age, he was a voracious reader, and his love of music spanned across all genres.

He loved the art of politics, watching the Houston Astros and the San Antonio Spurs, complete with his quintessential Cuban cigars.

He loved spending time at his ranch, which he referred to as “a little piece of heaven,” where he was devoted to protecting its wildlife.

His greatest joys in life included his children, his grandchildren, and his dogs.

Felipe is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Felipe Sr., and Angelica; a sister, Nora Linda, and by his brother-in-law, Alejandro Alamillo.

He is survived by his three children: Felipe Javier Garcia (Adele) of Frisco, TX; Julian Esteban Garcia (Erika Murad) of San Antonio, TX and Illeana Tiemann (John) of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Felipe Giovanni Garcia, Micaella Garcia, Malachi Garcia, Gabriella Cunha, Isabella Guimaraes and John Luke Tiemann and by seven siblings: Ramon Garcia of McAllen, TX, Thelma Garcia of Sebastian, TX; Nora De Leon (Raul), Roberto Garcia (Melissa), Dalila Garcia, Leticia Garcia, all of Edinburg, TX, and Romeo Garcia of Linn, TX.

The family would like to thank Maria Carmen Bocanegra “Mela” for being a cherished part of the Garcia family for over 30 years.

Visitation was held from 11 am to 1 pm, with a rosary scheduled for noon, on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, located at 208 East Canton in Edinburg. A memorial service followed at 2 pm at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in San Manuel, Tx.
