JIMMY LEE “PASTOR JIM” VINITA

EDINBURG — Jimmy Lee “Pastor Jim” Vinita, 77, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.

Born in Nowata, Oklahoma, he had lived in Edinburg for 21 years and was formerly of McAllen. Pastor Jim was the founding pastor of Abundant Grace Community Church in Edinburg.

He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Saylor Joyce Skaggs.

Pastor Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce E. Vinita; his sister, Lisa Cole; four children, James Lee Vinita, Joanna Lynn (Jeffrey) Walker, Jacquie Elaine (Roger) Marcelino, Jennifer Lynea (Lyle) Skaggs; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Katie) Walker, Annissa (Michael) Noblejas, James Frank (Martha) Vinita, Casey (William) Litton, Jessica (Sam) Salinas, Amanda Skaggs, Dylan Vinita, Brittany (John) Sanchez, Joseph (Larissa) Marcelino, Abigail (Jacob) Guzman, Spencer Skaggs, Saylor Joyce Skaggs+; 14 great-grandchildren, Caden Bardo, Nathaniel Bardo, Elijah Noblejas, Elizabeth Noblejas, Jace Sanchez, Benjamin Sanchez, Haydin Childress, Liam Litton, Rachel Marcelino, Samuel James Vinita, Addison Walker, Cole Walker, Matthew Salinas, Noah Salinas.

A Celebration of Life took place at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Abundant Grace Community Church in Edinburg. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
