MERCEDES LOPEZ CABRERA ALAMO —

Mercedes Lopez Cabrera, 63, entered eternal rest Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at her residence in Alamo.

She is preceded in death by her father, Francisco Lopez.

Mercedes is survived by three children, Perfecto Anciso, Geneva Castellanos, Rosbelt Cabrera; four grandchildren, Darren Anciso, Nicholas Anciso, Romeo Anciso, Angel Anciso; her mother, Maria Guadalupe Ayala Lopez; and 11 siblings.

Mercedes Lopez Cabrera, owner and operator of Mercedes’ Tax Services, is most known for her quick wit, mathematical mind, sage advice, endless empathy, adventurous nature, mischievous smile, and most of all her kind heart. Coming from a migrant family Mercedes always prided herself on her work ethic and always knew she loved math when she would accompany her grandfather to pay contracted families. Those same migrant families working in the fields alongside her family. She loved seeing their faces light up on payday and counting the money as precisely as she could. Her passion for numbers and learning new things sparked a career in accounting where she worked across many industries until she eventually made the leap into entrepreneurship. Although her business was her pride and joy, she always said her main priority was to be a mother. Mercedes was a fountain of wisdom, source of peace, a confidant, an inspiration, a warrior, a fighter, a tower of strength and light in the darkness for her children.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
