MERIDA “MISSY” KRSKA

EDINBURG — Merida “Missy Krska, 75 passed away April 8, 2022, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.

Elsie Merida Amaral was known to all as Merida or “Missy”.

Merida graduated from PSJA in 1964 and entered nursing school, going on to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. More than a job, being a nurse was her passion and her calling.

On August 15, 1964, Merida married Edwin Lee Krska. In the course of her 46 yearlong nursing career, Merida opened three intensive care units at Valley Baptist in Harlingen, High Planes Baptist in Amarillo, and Edinburg General Hospital; giving birth to one child at each facility. She was there for the ground-breaking and an integral part of the Intensive Care Unit Team at Edinburg Regional Medical Center, where she retired from in 2012.

“Missy” Merida Krska was every bit as devoted to her family as she was to her profession. She was a very dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin “Eddie” Krska; parents, Wilfred “Bill” and Mildred “Pat” Amaral; her only brother, William “Bill” Amaral.
