NEREYDA SAENZ and FERNANDO SAENZ

Nereyda Saenz, 48, and Fernando Saenz, 50, entered eternal rest Saturday, January 1, 2022.

Nereyda and Fernando were Weslaco residents. Nereyda graduated from Mercedes High School and Fernando graduated from Donna High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. Together they part-owned Saenz Brothers Construction.

Nereyda and Fernando are survived by their children, Magaly Saenz, Emily Saenz, Fernando “Tito” Saenz Jr, all of Weslaco; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel Trey Saenz and Natalia Claire Saenz. Nereyda is also survived by her mother, Maria Ana Hernandez of Mercedes; and nine siblings, Regina Saenz of Alamo, Jaime Torres, Martin Hernandez, both of Homestead, FL, Margarita Torres of Reynosa, Pilar Garza, Yadira Gonzalez, both of Monterrey, Raul Hernandez, Felix Hernandez, both of Mercedes, Nancy Cerda of Weslaco. Also, surviving Fernando are seven siblings, Manuel Saenz of Donna, Pedro Saenz of Hargill, Rosa Saenz of Edinburg, Juan Saenz, Ramon Saenz, both of Elsa, Bertha Herrera, Arturo Saenz, both of Alamo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Maria Saenz, and brother Jose Saenz.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service took place at 12 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment followed at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
