ROMEO JOSEPH GARZA, SR.

PHARR - Romeo Joseph Garza Sr., 83, entered eternal rest Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his residence in Pharr.

Born in Mission, Romeo had lived in Pharr all of his life. He served as Pharr City Commissioner from 1990-1994, and as President of Pharr Youth Baseball League for many years. Mr. Garza was the vocational career instructor at Edinburg High School until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Amelia "Amy" Garza; two sisters, Gloria Garza Garcia, Sylvia Garza Morales; and a brother, Rodolfo Garza.

Mr. Garza is survived by four children, Roxanna Garza (Juan) Mancha of San Juan, Debbie Garza of Mission, Romeo Garza Jr. and Gloria Garza (Tim) Buenrostro, both of Pharr; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
