SOCORRO M. SALINAS

McALLEN — Socorro M. Salinas, 91, entered eternal rest Monday, January 24, 2022, at her residence in McAllen. Born in Celaya, Guana

Born in Celaya, Guanajuato, she lived in McAllen most of her life. Socorro was a faithful servant and parish ioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen where she was employed for 23 years. Socorro served as a Eucharistic Minister at Casa De Amigos where she lived for 30 years, and at the McAllen hospitals. She volunteered at Comfort House in McAllen and was featured in the front page of The Monitor for her service. Socorro was recognized by Bishop Raymundo Peña for her service to the community and was featured in three commercials with Charlie Clark.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Daniel Salinas; a son, Jose Luis Salinas; and a grandson, Danny Navarro.

Socorro is survived by four children, Mary Navarro Salinas of Mission, Joe Daniel (Diane) Salinas of Austin, Martha E. (Charlie Baldazo) Salinas of Pharr, Rudy (Belma) Salinas of Mission; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maximina Haulk of California.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place 12 noon Monday, January 31, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
