STONY DALE GRANTHAM

EDINBURG — Stony Dale Grantham left this earth on the evening of July 4th 2022, as if he waited until the sky was filled with bursting colors and loud bangs celebrating his arrival into heaven.

He passed at home with his wife at his side, as he desired to do. He was 82 years old.

Stony was born on Feb 5, 1940 in Attala Co. MS to Robert L. Grantham & Nell Sanders Grantham. Finding his way to South Texas in 1958, he came upon a green-eyed girl, Sandra, and from that date forward they were rarely apart.

On June 30, 1960, they were married and stayed in Edinburg until Stony enlisted in the U.S. Navy which took the newlyweds to San Diego CA.

Returning in 1963, they started a family and he started in the appliance service industry, quickly realizing he was extremely adept at this profession.

He created Grantham's Appliance in 1979 and kept many loyal customers for over 50 years.

Stony was known for being a kind and generous person. He often worked on discarded appliances; replacing parts, repairing and gifting them to homes that he knew needed it. If you knew Stony, you were blessed by his genuinely positive nature and his perpetual kindness.

He is survived by his wife he called his "Earth Angel", Sandra Woodruff Grantham, daughter, Brenda Houx (Samuel), his son, Stony D. Grantham Jr. (Leticia), grandsons, Jimmy McDaniel, Samuel McDaniel and Joshua McDaniel, granddaughters, Crystal Pyles and Carrie McDaniel; five great grandchildren, one brother; and two sisters.

Visitation with a Memorial Service will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Edinburg.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
