VITALIA VILLA GARCIA

McALLEN — Vitalia Villa Garcia, a life-long resident of Edinburg, TX, passed away on December 29, 2021, at the young age of 93 under hospice care at the home of her daughter Elena Gutierrez in Buda, TX.

Vitalia was born in Yorktown, TX on April 8, 1928. She enjoyed gardening and attending social functions with her husband.

She is preceded in death by her husband Luis Garcia, Jr.; two sisters, Lillie Rodriguez and Francisca Alvarez; and a brother, Francisco (Pancho) Villa.

Mrs. Garcia married Luis Garcia, Jr. on May 25, 1946, and had four daughters, Yolanda Cristina (Ruben) Ortega, Maria Elena (+Andy, Jr.) Gutierrez, Maria del Carmen Gar-cia and Dalia Ann (Jaime) Garcia; she was blessed with seven grandchildren, Andy (Trina) Gutierrez, III, Melissa (Aaron) Hernandez, Jessica (Andy) Garza, Ruben (Ashley) Ortega, Jr., Monica (Adrian) Gonzales, Alma (Joe) Sauceda, Jayme Nemeth-Garcia (Kimberley); 24 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Monday, January 3, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Holy Family Church in Edinburg. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.

Serving in honor as pallbearers were Andy Gutierrez, Jr., Joseph Gutierrez, Ruben Ortega, Jr., Nathan Pena, Brandon Pena, and Anthony Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers were Adrian Sanchez and Luis Sanchez.

Heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Mary, Imelda, and all the staff from Hospice Austin, Austin, TX.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
