Cornyn grew a spine?

If we’re friends, and you’re a Republican and/ or like Sen. John Cornyn, please don’t read the following column because you’ll be disappointed in me, asking, “how can I be so stupid?”

What has turned me into an American-hating commie?

Seriously. That’s how people who agree with Trump, his administration, MAGA, Republicans in general, Fox News, are now portraying the party of JFK.

Democrats are traitors. Not that I am a member of any political party, but once you speak out against the Orange One, you are still a traitor whether you like it or not.

Don’t also forget “Low IQ,” according to the guy in the White House now raking in the dough, along with his two adult sons who apparently inherited the grift DNA.

The “traitor and commie” attack is now aimed at all Democrats, by the way, so watch out for ICE agents at the polls, and for God’s sake, speak English, not Spanish, when you go to vote since the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that language is one of the ways ICE can target people, see if they’re in this country legally.

The 6-3 U.S. Supreme Court vote, taken Sept. 8, 2025, is styled “Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo” in case you want to look up this bit of illegal insanity.

Other ways of acting like the Gestapo in the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave” include, the type of job being worked (construction, landscaping, ag), where people are located (at Stripes buying a taco during lunch, etc.), and appearance (hot, sweaty, brown).

Trump’s Lawyer

Now we have before us the acting U.S. attorney general, Todd Blanche, who wants to be permanent AG, but who is, in reality, Trump’s personal lawyer, his legal shark, a massive killing machine, but we’re to believe that he is capable of running the Department of Justice in an impartial, fair manner, according to the rule of law.

I know, it is crazy, but it is what it is.

No matter. The president wants Todd confirmed by his Republican stooges in the senate, and his lapdogs there want to do their master’s bidding. Or else they may lose their next primary, and in the end, for them, that’s all that matters — getting reelected.

Yet, our own Texas senator, John Cornyn, who is a decent guy, relatively speaking, when compared to the guy who beat him in the GOP March primary, current Texas AG Ken Paxton, was holding up the Blanche confirmation.

If you don’t know much about Ken Paxton, just do an online search for his name, and you’ll be left thinking, not only why is this man still in office, but how in the world did he beat a guy who is an incumbent with four terms under his belt and no scandals?

You’d have to ask Texas Republicans how that happened.

It happened because Trump endorsed old Ken — birds of a feather, all that sort of stuff — and Cornyn is suddenly without a job come the end of this year.

Now, if Cornyn had won the March GOP primary, he wouldn’t be doing the right thing, his spine straight and tall. No, he’d be doing Trump’s bidding and there never would have been a Blanche hold-up in the senate.

But old John lost the primary, has his nose bent out of shape, and so did the right thing — he said he wouldn’t vote to confirm Blanche in the senate committee, which would lead to a floor vote, unless there was a signed declaration from Todd Blanche that guaranteed Trump’s so-called “Slush Fund” is dead in the water.

If you don’t know about that bit of crazy, do an online search for “Trump’s Slush Fund.”

More insanity

So now, Trump’s personal lawyer will be running the Department of Justice, and I guarantee you that there is a bit of legal wiggle room in this new signed document that will still fund the slush fund. Only time will tell.

Trump did keep one thing intact, though. He and his adult crypto-loving sons, other family members, are exempt from past IRS tax audits not currently underway. Any and All.

Just do an online search for “Trump and family exempt from IRS audits.”

A writer can’t make up this stuff.

Better than fiction. Like a Dr. Strangelove flick, only darker.
