President Trump supporters can disown me

It’s going to be tough for me to write about what I really think about Donald J. Trump and the Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate, not to mention our GOP country bumpkins in the Texas Legislature.

Why? Because I have friends and family who still love the guy in almost unparalleled fashion, and when I talk to them, I don’t tell them what I really think about the narcissist in the Oval Office.

When they tell me how much they love the guy, I don’t say much, even though I find him to be a despicable human being and one of the worst presidents I’ve seen in my lifetime, and that includes Jimmy Carter and “Tricky Dick” Nixon.

Why don’t I tell them what I really think about Trump? After all, I’m writing about him this week, so it’s going to come out.

Probably because I value their friendship, and I hate to lose that. Especially as we age, longtime friends seem to count even more.

With family it’s even closer to the bone. Who wants to have a fight with family members?

Our Ruination

However, the time has come to simply come out with the truth as I know it: Trump, the golf cheat, is ruining this country, even more than Joe Biden ever thought of doing.

Besides successfully securing the southern border, which was desperately needed, everything else the man has touched has turned to rot.

He dismantles long-lasting trade agreements without giving a thought to what the ramifications may be. Just slash and dash and calls them “the greatest trade deals ever.”

Meanwhile, he and his family are making money off his second term. For example, do an online search for: “Trump and family benefit from his presidency.”

The results will prove amazing if you take the time to look.

For die-hard Trump supporters, though, MAGA, they’ll write it all off as “Fake News.”

Sure. Trump and his dim-witted sons are making tons of dough off his presidential brand, and no one seems to care.

Don’t take my word for it. Google it or use any search engine, and the stories will pop up, and they can’t all be fake, no matter how much Trump tries to spin it.

To be fair, the Democrats aren’t squeaky clean either, or right bright, to be honest, which is why Trump won a second term after a disastrous first term trying to convince us that Covid wasn’t real and we were stupid to wear a face mask.

The Dems did use lawfare against him while Biden was president to make sure that the Trumpster didn’t get on the 2024 ballot, but they failed.

Biden should have dropped out of the race long before he did so the Dems could have at least put up a candidate who could string a cohesive sentence together, like Pa. Governor Josh Shapiro, but they failed. Mainly because Jill Biden wanted a second term as First Lady. Frankly, she and Hunter Biden should be charged with elder abuse, for what they did to Joe, but that’s me.

Some criminal state charges against Trump, like the Georgia ones were legit, while the NY mortgage fraud deal was bogus. The Mar-a-Lago confidential documents were borderline because Biden was guilty of it too.

For anyone who watched Trump speak Jan. 6, 2021, like I did, and didn’t think he was inciting the crowd to take over the Capitol and overturn the election, wasn’t listening to what he had to say, and how he said it.

The fact that he later gave a blanket pardon to some offenders who had actually assaulted capitol police was disgraceful.

Most National Media MIA

The national media is also largely to blame for Trump’s return for a second term.

If Biden had been a Republican, they would have outed his demented state at least by the end of 2022, but they did nothing. So in one sense, Trump is right about the national media’s bias. For the most part, they are Democrat, biased in their reporting, but that doesn’t make all the news “fake.”

Meanwhile, what country with any sense lets approximately 14 million undocumented immigrants into the U.S. between January 2021 and December 2024 without vetting them (criminal background checks, communicable diseases, etc.)?

Biden and Harris did, along with their liars and cheaters in Congress.

Trump, though, how I hold the megalomaniac in such disdain, let me count the ways.

For example, does anyone associated with MAGA really believe that he has a passing acquaintance with the Christian faith, as he professes? The Jewish faith? Any concept of a divine creator who cares about justice and righteousness?

Really? Has any of Trump’s supporters looked at his Big Beautiful Bag of BS? It targets the least of these and grinds them to dust.

The heart of Christian teaching. Sure, there are many people scamming Medicaid, but you don’t pass a new law that will result in up to 15 million poor people without health insurance by 2034, which includes more than $1 trillion in spending cuts to health care through the same period. (Source: Johns Hopkins school of public health.)

Don’t even get me started on ICE. We were told that the dangerous illegal immigrants living among us were going to be deported.

No one had a problem with that. Then, when they can’t find the dangerous people because, well, they’re good at hiding from law enforcement, ICE starts rounding up the undocumented immigrants just trying to make a living, working, for the most part, manual labor.

Been here for 25 years, graduated high school here, never been charged with a crime, has held a job, but let’s boot them back to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Who thinks that’s right? The deportations even include kids with serious illnesses like cancer.

“Screw them. Get ‘em out of here.” What’s worse is that at least the Democrats admit who they are, and we can each define that for ourselves.

The Republicans, however, including the Texas GOP, hide behind this big Bible they love to carry, while screwing their fellow man, woman, every flipping chance they get, while sucking up to their wealthy owners who keep them in power.

If one Republican steps out of line, wham, they draw a primary opponent and get booted out of office.

A Laughingstock

Trump has managed to turn America into the world’s laughingstock, while always coming up with outright lies – the world loves us; he’s the greatest president in history; we’re better off than we’ve ever been; the economy is booming, best administration ever, ad nauseum.

If he’d take a shot of reality, he might really see how badly he’s screwed up everything he touches.

Meanwhile, he has surrounded himself with the biggest bunch of sycophants to ever comprise a single presidential cabinet.

It’s disgusting to even watch them in action.

No matter which cabinet secretary speaks, whether it’s DHS barbie with her collegian lips, who shot her hunting dog because the poor pup was “underperforming,” or the dyed-blonde AG, Pam Bambi (Bondi), or the secretary of Commerce, they all start out with, oh, Mr. President, what a great job you’re doing?

Marco Rubio is indeed one of the worst sycophants. For a guy who once publicly stated how much he couldn’t stand Trump.

“Hey, Marco, want to be Secretary of State?”

“Sure, Mr. President. What do I need to do?”

“Get on your knees.” “No problem, sir.” Then you have the Defense Secretary and former Fox & Friends talking head, Pete Hegseth, who trips over himself just so he can climb up Trump’s backside. Can the guy wear any more clothes accessories that sport the American flag?

His tie, his handkerchief, his belt, all sporting the red, white, and blue. I wouldn’t even want to see his underwear or his socks.

By the way, how many adulterous affairs did Hegseth have before he found God?

And can he please quit posting pictures of himself out jogging with Special Forces?

You have some big biceps, Pete. We get it, dude. You’re a stud.

Now, the same guy, Trump, who wants to win a Nobel Peace Prize, and Hegseth (go, Fox News) want to rename the Department of Defense the Department of War, which is what is used to be named throughout the 19th century and most of the 20th.

Then, the Department of War was renamed the Department of Defense in 1949 after a 1947 amendment to the National Security Act merged the Army and Navy departments and the new Air Force into the National Military Establishment, which was then renamed.

So now our “peace president” wants to rename it back to the Department of War.

Maybe we can bomb Canada? Mexico? Venezuela? Greenland?

Poor Ukraine

Trump has poor Volodymyr Zelenskyy to a sit-down in the Oval Office this past February, and right away, the president’s entire cabinet, almost, starts beating up on the guy who has been fighting off a war tyrant, a bloody war criminal, for more than two years, and the hillbilly now serving as vice president, J.D. Vance, hammers him for not thanking us enough?

Then the war criminal, the mass killer, Vlad Putin, shows up in Alaska for a sit-down with Trump, and we roll out the red carpet for him, while the president shakes the killer’s hand like he’s caressing the hand of some blonde escort working for half price.

Just pure disgust at what’s going on, and we still have a little less than 3.5 years of this Trump nightmare to endure.

I know it’s pretty bad when, in hindsight, Kamala Harris is actually starting to look good.

Meanwhile, the slaughter in Gaza continues, with poor kids just starving right and left, while Trump and Netanyahu spin the story, it’s all Hamas’s fault. Let’s bomb some more hospitals, kill the last few physicians still standing.

Oct. 7, 2023, was Hamas’s fault, which is true. The brutal mass slaughter of innocent Israelis unforgivable, the kidnappings, the same; but the Gaza genocide, no that’s on Netanyahu and the U.S., mainly the Republicans in Congress who suck up to AIPAC every chance they get because, well, that’s where their campaign donations come from. Blood money.

To show that Congress can agree on something, the Dems also hold court with AIPAC, backing almost every move Netanyahu makes.

I think that the body count, though, is just a little bit one-sided: 50 times the number of fatalities, Gaza vs. Israel.

Just this week, more journalists were killed in Gaza, including a reporter from Reuters and the AP.

Can’t have independent journalists reporting the news.

Oops. Missile gone awry. A mistake. Our bad.

Meanwhile, the real leaders of Hamas, the real butchers/terrorists, are holed up in luxurious digs in Qatar, which is where Trump went to swing some sweet deals earlier this year, and no one hardly ever mentions that.

If Trump doesn’t like something he hears, he just makes stuff up out of whole cloth and spins a new lie, and most of his supporters buy it.

Cult of personality

A dangerous thing.

Hate me if you will, but this is what I think of Donald J. Trump the biggest con artist, sleaze bag to ever occupy the Oval Office, who will do more damage to this country than all the six previous presidents combined.

My opinion, and I’m entitled to it.

And by the way, over the years, I’ve voted for more Republicans than Democrats.

Then George W. and his deranged handler, Dick Cheney, came along, and I finally saw the light.

By the way, here is the definition of “cult of personality,” courtesy of Wikipedia. Let me know if it reminds you of anyone currently in public office, not counting Texas AG Ken Paxton: “A cult of personality is the exaggerated veneration of a single person, often a political leader, through the manipulation of mass media, propaganda, and government- organized events to create an idealized, heroic, and sometimes god-like image of that individual.

“This devotion goes beyond mere admiration and involves the leader's image becoming inseparable from the nation's or group's identity, policies, and future, with followers accepting the leader's authority and vision uncritically.”
