How do you buy a football ticket for a UTRGV game?
EDINBURG — It’s official, y’all. We’re in the “redzone” for the upcoming UTRGV Football season.
The opening kickoff for the first game is officially 24 days away as the Vaqueros are slated to play UT Permian Basin at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium.
As a result of the momentous occasion, the Athletics program over at UTRGV has released some new information on how to grab single-game tickets for the five home games this season.
Late last month, the department announced that they solidified a 10-year partnership with Paciolan — which is supposed to help with the process of purchasing tickets for the game. Reason being is as those who remember last year, people were selling tickets on third-party sites and pun intended, hiking up the prices since entry into a UTRGV football game was a hot commodity.
How does it work?
The way it’s going to work is that those who want to buy a ticket the week of the game will have to jump over to UTRGVTickets.com and create a Paciolan account, since that’s the system that’s handling the tickets.
If you’re not tech savvy, no worries — you can put the blood pressure medicine down.
Once you visit the UTRGVTickets.com link, on the top right, you’ll see a “Sign in” button where you can create the account and put your information down.
According to the university’s department, those interested will be able to purchase up to six tickets for the game, if available.
Don’t procrastinate
So, last year, if anyone remembers — tickets used to sell out within hours.
This year, it’s looking to be the same case, even though the stadium got an uplift and some added seats.
The week of a home game — which are always going to be on a Saturday — will be made available the Monday of that week at 8 a.m.
Even though the stadium fits 13,498, that doesn’t mean the supply is infinite. The department said in a release that tickets that are not claimed by the visiting team, will then be made available for sale the day before the game — which lands on a Friday —at 8 a.m.
Essentially, you got two chances to get a ticket.
How much are they?
There are different types of single-game tickets for those interested.
The price packaging is as follows:
Sections 105-107: $50
Sections 103-104, 108-109, 116-118: $35
Sections 101-102, 110111: $25
Sections 113-115, 119127: $20
Standing Room Only: $15
Those who are students of the university are able to claim their single ticket that is provided by the school.
If you remember the price-gouging and scalpers last year who were trying to be slick and charge over $100 per ticket will be relieved to see the cost of these.
Remember, through UTRGVTickets.com, you’ll log into your Paciolan account and get a ticket.
On game day, it’s important to note when you show the nice ticket people your ticket, do not show them a screenshot. It won’t work.
“All UTRGV football tickets will use NFC scanning, therefore screenshots will not grant entry,” a UTRGV Athletics release said.
Meaning, you’ll have to log into your account through a browser and show them through there.
Other information on Game Day
As a footnote, the university also encourages fans to visit RallyTheValley.com on the day of a game to get the latest information on game days and throughout the season.
