Spurs make franchise history; Suns spoil winning streak

The San Antonio Spurs are making a bit of noise this season as this year is statistically the best start they’ve ever had in the franchise.

Despite the winning tradition and championships that the Texas team has garnered over the years, the squad has never started a season 5-0.

The month of October was a good one for the Spurs as on Oct. 30 — the team took the home win against the Miami Heat for the 5-0 feat.

However, the Phoenix Suns (3-4) spoiled the Spurs’ winning streak this past Sunday as they won, 130-118. This gave the Spurs their first loss of the season and they now stand at 5-1.

Superstar Victor Wembanyama, who is having an MVP-like season so far, did have a great deal of struggles against the Suns at their house. Wemby only finished with 9 points off of 4-14 shooting. To make matters a bit worse for the statline, he had 6 turnovers — which was the most by any Spur for the game.

For the Suns, University of Kentucky product Devin Booker showed off his status by padding out 28 points on the night with 35 minutes of game time. He had a double- double with 13 assists. Shooting-wise, he was near flawless as he was 10-15 from the field. Grayson Allen had 17, as well as Ryan Dunn.

The Spurs’ Stephon Castle helped alleviate the deficit with 26 points. Harrison Barnes and rookie Dylan Harper had 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Spurs will take on the Los Angeles Lakers (6-2) tomorrow at their place. The Suns are set to play the Warriors (4-3) on Tuesday.
