UTRGV brings down conference foe Houston Christian University

It was all business on Saturday as the UTRGV Vaqueros won in their home conference opener against Houston Christian University, 27-7.

The win comes after a loss last week to the Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

Defense was a key component for the Vaqueros as HCU was held to only 214 yards of total offense for the night. More so, UTRGV forced two fumbles, in which one was lost by the Huskies.

UTRGV saw a lot of green on the night with 328 total yards. Eddie Lee Marburger was showing some flair on the ground and air as he threw one touchdown and had himself 131 yards passing. He rushed for two TDs on the ground for 95 yards.

UTRGV will play nationally ranked Lamar on Oct. 18 in Beaumont.
