Vaqueros set to host nationally ranked Texas Longhorns

The UTRGV Vaqueros Women’s basketball team is looking to recuperate after their conference loss against Lamar University last Tuesday.

This Wednesday, the nationally ranked Texas Longhorns will be coming to the Rio Grande Valley to take on the Vaqueros at 6:30 p.m. at the Bert Ogden Arena.

This isn’t the first time that these two teams have battled one another. Last year, the Vaqueros traveled up to Austin and the Longhorns left with a commanding win. UTRGV has played UT-Austin 11 times previously, but has never gotten a dub against them.

Defensively, UTRGV will have to stay sharp as the No. 2 Longhorns are an offensive powerhouse — averaging 91.7 points a game. UT on the other hand is keen on defense as well as they have limited their opponents to only 54.4 points a game. The Vaqueros put up about 69.7 points a game and limit their opponents to 64.
