Hidalgo County surpasses the 25,000 mark for positive cases; 10 people die due to COVID-19 complications

EDINBURG Ten residents have died due to complications related to COVID-19 and 675 people tested positive for the virus. The total number of positive cases is 25,169.

 “I extended my sincere sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of the 10 latest victims to pass from COVID-19. Each and every death is a tragedy for all of Hidalgo County,” Judge Richard F. Cortez said. “It is absolutely critical that we continue taking strong precautions to slow the spread of this deadly virus.”

 There are currently 2,484 net active cases and 593 people were released from isolation on Monday, meaning that they have been symptom-free for 10 days, including three days without a fever.
