Cities distributing sandbags ahead of weather
Local cities are helping residents prepare for the potential rain that is slated to arrive Friday.
For residents in Pharr, the city is distributing sandbags at two sites Friday and Saturday. It will be a self-serve distribution.
The locations are the Pharr Natatorium and the Pharr Development & Research Center. The Natatorium is located at 3001 N. Cage Blvd. — distribution will be at the West side parking lot. The Development & Research Center is located at 850 W. Dicker Road.
Residents must bring a proof of residency, such as a water bill or driver's license.
Residents willl be able to receive 6 bags per household, while businesses can get 12 bags.
Distribution on Friday will be until 8 p.m. Saturday it will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. if weather permits.
Alamo sandbag distribution
For residents of Alamo, residents must collect their bags first at Alamo City Hall — located at 420 N. Tower Road. Then, residents will then be able to go to the self-serve distribution locations to fill up the bags.
Residents can fill their bags at the Alamo Sports Complex, Balli Park and Alaniz Park.
The complex is located at 600 E. Ridge Road.
Balli Park is at 804 E. Nebraska Road, while Alanix Park is on the Corner of 6th and Citrus between Duranta.
Residents must bring their proof of residency.
Residents can receive five bags per household, while business will get two.
Hours at City Hall will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hours at the Public Works will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
San Juan sandbag distribution
For residents of San Juan, sandbag distribution will be tomorrow at San Juan Municipal Park at the East Side Parking Lot.
The park is located at 506 US Bus 83 — residents are to enter through First Street.
A proof of residency is required. Sandbags will be distributed from 8 a.m. to noon.
Residents can receive four bags per household, businesses can get six.
