The Rio Grande Valley’s best softball team is still running with the best in the state as they took home the regional championship this past weekend in Corpus Christi.
Unfortunately, like bad road kill, they exist. Bad politicians that is, with “bad” being defined as “crooked.” In other words, a politician, man or woman, who can be bribed if the price is right.
How ironic that a term still deemed offensive today in the Rio Grande Valley — “Wetback” — was considered normal in the summer of 1954 when then-President Dwight Eisenhower launched “Operation Wetback,” which used military style tactics to remove Mexican immigrants from along the U.S./Mexico border, including the Rio Grande Valley.
