In my younger, dumber days, which may or may not have passed me by, depending on which day of the week it is, I would have celebrated the new vehicle law that the Texas Legislature passed last year and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law last August, despite it being insane: No more vehicle safety inspections (tires, brakes, lights, etc.) needed as of Jan. 1, 2025 for noncommercial vehicles.

A Hidalgo County judge found Enoe Reyes, 42, of Edinburg, guilty of two counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact and sentenced Reyes to 30 years in prison.
