On Saturday, Dec. 19, the residents and staff of the San Juan Nursing Home were given a special Christmas holiday treat. Everyone sat in the TV room of the nursing home to watch a recorded version of the 48th annual production of The Nutcracker Ballet as performed by the Rio Grande Valley Ballet Company on Saturday, Dec. 5. The event was dubbed “Nutcracker at the Nursing Home.” Riza Renae Hernandez, a 14-year-old Girl Scout senior and 11-year veteran student at Deborah Case Dance Academy in McAllen, performed for the 9th time in the Rio Grande Valley holiday favorite The Nutcracker Ballet.
