EDINBURG – Commissioners Court honored Borderland Hardware as they celebrated their 100th year in business as the oldest hardware store in Mercedes. The hardware store was first opened in 1919 by traveling salesman E.E. Jack Johnson and an associate, both maintaining and operating the store with a complete line of hardware and implements.
