Hispanic Heritage Celebration in Edinburg: Nuestra Herencia

EDINBURG - Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated to honor Hispanic contributions to American heritage and culture. The observance was born in 1968 when Congress authorized the president to issue an annual proclamation designating National Hispanic Heritage Week. Two decades later, this became a month-long celebration, stretching from September 15 to October 15 in celebration of the anniversary of independence of the following Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the City of Edinburg will host Nuestra Herencia, a series of virtual programs that will include dance and music presentations,
