Special to the Advance McALLEN — Individuals who are interested in supporting the Mujeres Unidas mission and who can commit to volunteering at least two weeknights or one weekend per month will be trained in providing crisis intervention, safety planning, arranging for emergency shelter and accompaniment to the hospital if needed.
Special to the Advance EDINBURG — The Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney’s Office; the Rio Grande Valley District Attorney Coalition; the Texas Council on Family Violence; the City of Edinburg; Edinburg Police Department; Mujeres Unidas; and the Hidalgo County Family Violence Taskforce will commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month with the 7th annual “Purple Day” event on Thursday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Bert Ogden Arena parking lot located at 4900 S I-69 C in Edinburg, TX.
This week Cinderella is featuring a couple of great pets, Desperado and Drew. The former is a medium sized beagle cross, weighing about 35 pounds who was born in July 2020 and the latter is a handsome gray and white cat who was born in February 2022.
