Edinburg Fire Stoppers Festival makes return

EDINBURG – The Edinburg Fire Department would like to invite the community to come out to the HEB Park in Edinburg on October 30th to join at our Edinburg Fire Stoppers Festival. Our Fire Stoppers Festival is a free family friendly event filled with fun and educational activities highlighting fire safety. Come out and enjoy live music, carnival rides, great food, and special attractions. We will also be having performances from local schools and organizations.

Editor’s note: As the Texas state legislature works through its third special session, turning this gig for elected officials into almost a full-time job, it’s time to read what my favorite gubernatorial candidate of all time, Kinky Friedman, had to say about politics and life in general. Friedman, now 76, ran for Texas governor in 2006 and came in fourth in a six-candidate race. He was also a losing candidate for Texas ag commissioner last year.
