Quinta Mazatlán to host 'The Life of Bones in Mexico' presentation

Quinta Mazatlán World Birding Center is honored to host Dr. Servando Z. Hinojosa, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, on Thursday October 28th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a Dia de Los Muertos inspired presentation on “The Life of Bones in Mexico” on the Thursday Night Live series at Quinta Mazatlán.

Fiesta de Palmas gives back, offers events for public

This year, Fiesta de Palmas, taking place on Oct. 22-24, welcomes its first pumpkin patch to the annual cultural festival. The “Fiesta Fun Pumpkin Patch” will offer attendees the chance to get that Instagramable photo opportunity and purchase a pumpkin, as well. Fiesta de Palmas is not only introducing this fun family experience, but also giving back with all proceeds going to the Make- A-Wish Foundation. In fact, 100% of the proceeds from the pumpkin patch will be going toward Make- A-Wish.

Edinburg set to host first poetry festival

EDINBURG — Craft Cultura and the City of Edinburg are teaming up and excited to announce Edinburg’s first Spoken Word Poetry Festival, Untamed Tongues: Poets Sin Fronteras. This poetry festival celebrates our Mexican American culture on the South Texas borderlands. We explore our past, present, and future as a community through the art of storytelling. Join us for a night full of art and culture at the McIntyre Promenade Courtyard (415 W. University Drive) on Friday, October 22nd from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Celebrate life on the borderlands as an array of poets from different regions of the Valley perform their original poems for the first time.
