We’ve all heard of the mesquite tree in Texas –either sitting around a mesquite fire cooking fajitas or enjoying the shade of the beautiful tree. It has been dubbed the “Tree of Life” because of its ability to offer life-giving sustenance in harsh environments. The tree has an amazing history and provides native people, past and present, with the Big Five; food, fuel, fertilizer, furniture, and fence posts. Literally, every part of the tree is useful.
McKitty is exactly what his name implies, plain and simple. Sierra, the “foxy lady,” is actually all dog, a combination of Shetland Sheepdog and Husky.

PHARR — The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley recently received a generous donation from DHR Gastroenterologist, Dr. Murthy Badiga, to support the food bank’s on-going ‘Resource Readiness and Response’ Campaign. Dr. Badiga’s personal donation of $4,000 will provide up to 20,000 meals for those in need in the Rio Grande Valley.
