PSJA librarians debut virtual Read Alouds, Book Talks and TikTok to engage students

PHARR - In celebration of National School Library Month, dozens of PSJA Librarians have produced virtual Book Talks and Read Alouds for students in their effort to continue encouraging them to read while at home. This week, the avid readers will also launch a series of TikTok's to reminder their students of the importance of reading during National Library Week, April 19-25!

“Hello McAllen!” show helps children document and express feelings during pandemic

McALLEN – As both children and adults find themselves in a strange “new normal” as the COVID-19 pandemic crisis has practically stopped and changed many of the familiar and comforting routines and activities, finding ways to express the emotions the changes and situation has created can be difficult. City of McAllen Employee Wellness Director Jolee Perez, whose primary focus was providing health helpful tips and other such guides for the parents in the McAllen municipal workforce.

Love is Blind

This week, Cinderella is featuring Stevie Girl and Raya. These pretty, three year old sisters need to find a loving home with a person who has an extra big heart with room for both of them. They have been in foster care since they were discovered in someone’s backyard, when they were only 8 weeks old, appearing to be disoriented. It turns out that the reason for this disorientation is that Stevie Girl is totally blind and Raya is vision impaired.

Alonzo Cantú selected by Gov. Abbott to serve on Special Advisory Council

Alonzo Cantú of McAllen, whose far-reaching positive influence on the Valley’s economy, health care, education, and quality-of-life is felt on a large scale, on Friday, April 17, 2020, was selected by Gov. Greg Abbott as one of 39 Texans to serve on a Special Advisory Council which will share innovative ideas to help businesses strategically reopen while containing the spread of COVID-19.
