PHARR – Making district history, thirty-five high school students in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA) were named recipients of the competitive 2020 Dell Scholarship. The students will receive $20,000, a brand new laptop, and textbook credits to complete their post-secondary education.
Cinderella has just taken a couple of adorable young cats into foster care, one female and one male. Either one would make a great companion during the current COVID-19 crisis, and for many years to come. EDINBURG – The Fine Arts Department of the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District recently earned the Best Communities for Music Education award for the fifth consecutive year. The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation honored Edinburg CISD with the designation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
In a story published last week in The Advance, it was reported that six local fire fighters were in a 14- day quarantine after one of the six came into contact with a close family member related to a 15-year-old teen who later tested positive for COVID-19. The contact came during an emergency call to the patient’s home – trouble breathing.
McALLEN – Due to number of people at the Palm View Golf Course, McAllen Mayor Jim Darling ordered that it be closed until further notice. Beginning, April 1, 2020, the City of McAllen has closed the Palm View Golf Course to the public.
