Cub Scouts Earn Furs, Feathers & Ferns

Second Saturdays from February 8 to May 9 offer distinct opportunities for Scouts to gain hands-on learning experience and earn badges at Quinta Mazatlán! This Saturday, February 8 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Cub Scouts will have a chance to earn their Fur, Feathers and Ferns badge as they observe wildlife and plants, find out about endangered species, and do some gardening. Each requirement of the Fur, Feathers and Ferns badge will be fulfilled during the two-hour program. From formulating a plan for their hike; identifying native flora within the thorn forest; recognizing various threatened and endangered species of the Rio Grande Valley; and observing wildlife along the trails- this will be an outdoor adventure to remember! Monthly Scout workshops at Quinta Mazatlán focus on different environmental topics and take place second Saturdays, February 8 to May 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Registration is $6 per Scout. Advance registration is recommended, as spaces are limited. Quinta Mazatlán is located at 600 Sunset Drive in McAllen, one block south of La Plaza Mall on 10th Street.
