Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez orders Shelter-at-Home Order

EDINBURG – In his capacity as the county’s Emergency Management Director, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez signed a new county order for all residents and visitors in Hidalgo County. The new emergency orders include a shelter at home order, curfew, essential travel limitations and a requirement for everyone to use facial coverings while outdoors.

McAllen Residential Building Inspections to Move to Virtual

MCALLEN — As part of the City of McAllen’s progressive eServices and ongoing effort to protect the health and safety of its residents, contractors and employees, the City of McAllen’s Building Department is launching a program to conduct live remote video residential building inspections. The purpose of the Remote Video Inspections (RVI) program is to provide an alternative to on-site locations.

There are so many things wrong with this global pandemic, it’s hard to figure out what can and cannot be fixed. The state tried to re-open businesses, but now that’s being reconsidered, at least at the county level. Last week, Hidalgo County’s Local Health Authority issued an order effectively closing schools in Hidalgo County, both public and private, until Sept. 27.
