Special to the AdvanceThere’s nothing quite captivating like a classic work, especially one that dances into your heart.On Sunday at 2 p.m., Melba’s McAllen Dance Theatre will perform the classical ballet “The Sleeping Beauty” at the McAllen Performing Arts Center located at 801 Convention Center Blvd.The first act features excerpts from this classical ballet, which was originally performed in 1890 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Later in 1899, Tchaikovsky composed the music for the ballet, which soon thereafter became one of the world’s most popular ballets.Somer Donnelly, 18, senior at McAllen Memorial High School, will play the role of Princess Aurora.
