Back in May of 2018, McAllen resident Cynthia Alanis was celebrating her graduation from law school (St. Mary’s University) on Facebook: “Hell yes to earning my Doctorate of Jurisprudence.” Monday, Alanis was taken into custody following the return of a federal indictment alleging she made a false statement to authorities in a bribery investigation involving alien detainee roster lists.
